Our History
Miss Dianna’s School of Dance was started in the basement of Dianna’s home in 1974 when she began a summer class at the age of 15. At the end of the summer, the parents asked to continue teaching their children during the school year. So Dianna got her first business license before her driver’s license.
In 1975 Dianna moved into her first building in Gladstone. Over the next 34 Years, MDSOD expanded from a humble one room dance/acrobat space to a four floor thriving studio. Dianna’s daughter Marisa, and son Alex, joined her in teaching as the studio continued to grow.
In 2009 the dream of owning our own building came true! The beautiful church across from a daycare and a library became our new 8,000 square foot home. The school is now educating grandchildren of some of Dianna’s original students. Miss Dianna’s School of Dance has grown each year since its inception and welcomes dancers of all ages and ability levels
MDSOD entered the competition dance world in 1986 & The Spotlights Performance Troupe was formed. “Spotlights” has performed all over the nation as well as internationally with Royal Caribbean Cruise Line. Our troupe performs locally at Starlight Theater, Zona Rosa, Assisted Living Facilities, and many other community events.
Studio Highlights
♦ We have eight adult teachers with performance experience & education♦ Students ages 18 months old through 85 years young take classes Monday through Saturday.
♦ We are proud of our 8,000 square foot studio with 5 dance and acrobat floors, a private music room, 3 waiting rooms so parents can watch any class, a dance shop, office and full kitchen.
♦ We teach acrobats, tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, pom pon, guitar, drum & technique classes to children and adults.
♦ Our Spotlights Performance Troupe takes classes in tap, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, ballet, modern, pom pon, musical theater, and contemporary with membership through audition. The Troupe represents our school at competitions, special shows, community events, and at our recital.
♦ Summer Dance Education Camps are offered for serious dancers age 5 and up.
